A busy 2024 summer transfer window awaits Tottenham Hotspur.

In Ange Postecoglou’s debut season as a Premier League manager, and in the Tottenham hotseat, he progressed the club and excited many with his style of play.

During the past few years, Tottenham have been used to football which has made fans want to get off their seat and go for an early drink.

Now, they can’t stop getting off their seat because there is so much action unfolding on the pitch, with fullbacks now playing as number 10s.

But despite that feel-good factor around the club. The feeling is that big changes are still needed for next season.

For Jurgen Klinsmann, he is in no doubt that Spurs ‘need reinforcements’ and the pressure is going to heat up on Postecoglou next season.

The German football legend feels that the Europa League side need to target every position this summer, including defensive cover at the back and in midfield.

As well as goalscorers being needed because, Son Heung-min is ‘by himself up top’, as he told ESPN.

But there is one area of the pitch that Klinsmann feels doesn’t need looking at ahead of the summer transfer window and that’s the position of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Klinsmann hailed the Italy international as a player who has been ‘fantastic throughout the year’ and he doesn’t need competition or to be replaced.

Guglielmo Vicario’s debut season at Tottenham Hotspur

“Spurs definitely need reinforcements,” said Klinsmann. “I think they need in all departments.

“Let us leave aside maybe the goalkeeper Vicario. He was fantastic throughout the year. But you need to go through the back four. You need to go through, especially the defensive midfield and you need another one or two strikers that deliver you at least 15 goals.

“Son is pretty much by himself up top. A bit Kulusevski and then there isn’t much left. I think they need to get into the market and find some talent. Give Ange some help here. He will be from the beginning under different pressure and a different expectation from the fans than he was in his first year. They want more.”

Tottenham in the Europa League

This is going to be a massive test for Tottenham and their return to Europe isn’t going to be easy.

Many will be backing Postecoglou and his players to win the competition, but as Liverpool found out this season, it’s not going to be easy, by any stretch.

The big issue that will be facing Spurs is the fact that they will now be playing midweek games and the team struggled when they suffered injuries this season.

A lot of teams around them. Manchester United, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Aston Villa all played in Europe and had terrible injury records.

If the same scenario is facing Spurs, then the pressure is on Levy to deliver and back his manager in the transfer market.
