Tottenham expected to beat Newcastle to Prem side’s best player in record-breaking coup

Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest is expected to be acquired by Tottenham from Newcastle in a battle that is expected to see a record transfer of players.

The 24-year-old Gibbs-White has won Player of the Year honors for both of his clubs in consecutive years. In both his first season at Nottingham Forest last year and during his loan from Wolves to Sheffield United in the 2021–2022 campaign, the explosive attacker took home the awards.

This season, Gibbs-White has continued to display excellent play, racking up five goals and seven assists in the Premier League alone.

Due to Nottingham Forest’s financial difficulties, a high-profile summer departure from the City Ground has been suggested.

According to numerous rumors, Tottenham and Newcastle are contenders for the signing of Gibbs-White.

According to Football Insider, Forest will demand “upwards of £50m” before grudgingly agreeing to a deal.

That kind of departure would register as Forest’s most profitable sale ever. Brennan Johnson’s £47.5 million summer transfer to Spurs sets the existing record.

A recent report from Football Insider claims that Tottenham is in “pole position” to sign Gibbs-White when the season ends.

According to rumors, Tottenham is the team that can most easily pay the kind of sum that Forest will want because they have more wiggle room under the Premier League’s PSR regulations.

In addition, the story quotes Tottenham-affiliated insiders who have already concluded that Gibbs-White is a “Ange Postecoglou player.”

Conor Gallagher: what about him?

The Tottenham manager is well-known for being a fan of Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and is searching for a dynamic central midfield player this summer.

Gallagher’s transfer status, however, is totally dependent on whether or not he agrees to a new deal at Stamford Bridge. His current contract expires at the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season.

The Blues won’t trade their acting captain if he does sign new contracts. If not, Chelsea will consider bids to make sure they don’t lose a very marketable player for nothing in a year.

Spurs seem unlikely to sign both Gallagher and Gibbs-White, considering Postecoglou has already acknowledged the need for a new center-half and the possibility of adding a striker.

FI came to the conclusion that Champions League football would be an additional consideration that may tip the scales in favor of Tottenham in the Gibbs-White trade.

Spurs presently have a three-point deficit to Aston Villa in fourth place, but they have a game in hand and a better goal differential.

Fifth place was seen to be good enough to be eligible for the expanded format the following year.

However, Serie A and the Bundesliga are now expected to secure the two more berths due to the English teams’ collectively dismal performance in the three European tournaments this season.
