Moyes makes example of West Ham star ‘affecting the team’ with poor discipline

Midfielder Edson Alvarez has received a number of yellow cards, and West Ham manager David Moyes has publicly chastised him for them, saying that his repeated bans are “affecting the team.”

Alvarez, who has already missed three Premier League games this season due to suspension, will not play on Thursday when West Ham takes on Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.

Because the Mexican international has missed important games, Moyes has voiced concern about the effect his absence will have on the team’s performance. Alvarez was booked ten times this season in March, and he recently completed a two-match suspension in the Premier League.

Alvarez, who was added to the team last summer to replace Declan Rice, has racked up an incredible 15 yellow cards in all competitions. Moyes expressed his displeasure, saying the Hammers star has received warnings “too often”.

“I think the intensity and the speed is probably where he’s still getting used to the Premier League,” said Moyes. “For us, we’ve not got such a big squad where we can afford too many people to be out.”

“We have been without him since the beginning of the season due to suspension; he will also be absent for our midweek match against Leverkusen. You start to feel the impact of him being absent from so many games “, according to the Express.

“He’s got too many reservations. It impacts the team and has in recent weeks, so we need to attempt to figure out how to keep him out of situations like that.”

Moyes has stated unequivocally that he will not be having a private conversation with Alvarez because he feels the 26-year-old’s experience should steer him away from bookings on a regular basis.

The West Ham manager lauded Alvarez’s contribution, saying, “His absence has been felt. Since we signed him at the beginning of the season, he has had a significant impact on our team. He has played a crucial role for the team.”

“I haven’t had a conversation with him because I would think he would be experienced enough to know that you can’t go around getting yellow cards every week,” Moyes continued. He doesn’t need my advice because he is intelligent enough.”

Alvarez has been a key member of the Hammers despite missing a few games; he has appeared in 25 Premier League games and made a vital contribution to their Europa League run. However, he will not be available for the impending match against Bayer.
