Doctor: Tottenham star’s thigh injury is likely to keep him out of the Luton match

Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven may not be back in time to take on Luton Town on 30 March, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the severity of his setback has not been revealed but comments from Ange Postecoglou suggest that it’s not serious.

The Spurs manager said on March 15 that his injury was not as severe as the last one and that he would not be playing the game against Fulham, which they lost 3-0.

Discussing the state of play with van de Ven exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“Sounds like the assessment is ongoing but the comments from Ange are positive.

“We don’t have much information other than it being a thigh injury so it’s hard to give best vs worst case but typically that would be a difference of days vs months out.

“A better gauge will be to see how he’s training after the international break.

“I still think it’s unlikely he’s back for the next game.“

Van de Ven’s injury a major blow for Tottenham

Despite moving to north London only this summer, the Dutchman has become one of the most important players for them.

The 22-year-old has made 18 Premier League appearances and has been the first-choice option whenever he’s fit.

He has formed a good understanding with Cristian Romero at the heart of the Spurs defence and the duo’s skillsets complement each other pretty well.

In van de Ven’s absence, there does appear to be gaping holes in the back line – something which Postecoglou needs to address.
