Official: Novak Djokovic will skip the Miami Open in order to concentrate on his clay court campaign

The Miami Open will not include Novak Djokovic. The Serb, who was unexpectedly eliminated in Indian Wells by the unidentified Italian Luca Nardi, has opted to withdraw from the other American Masters 1000 in order to concentrate on the clay court circuit and increase the likelihood that he would be at his best at Roland Garros;

For the world number one, this season has not been easy. He was unable to participate in the Australian Open final after losing to Jannik Sinner, and he is now unable to compete in Indian Wells. He has made the decision to take a sabbatical after reaching the middle of March without taking home a single victory in a tournament. It is anticipated that he would make a comeback to the court at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, much like Rafael Nadal.

Many people currently believe that Nole is done, but we must keep in mind that he has won three of the four Grand Slams in 2023 and advanced to the semifinals of the first one in 2024, all while being very near to 37 years old (he becomes 37 in May). Next up are Wimbledon and Roland Garros, two surfaces he excels at handling like clay and grass. Never bury him before it’s time, please.
