Tottenham overtakes Liverpool by initiating formal negotiations to acquire a 6′ 3″ star for a low-cost contract

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur intends to step up their attempts this summer to capture Lloyd Kelly, a star from Bournemouth who is wanted by Liverpool.

The 25-year-old is nearing the end of his current contract, but he hasn’t made up his mind to sign a new one yet. The Cherries might so lose their top player for nothing right now.

Kelly’s current situation appears to be being used by Tottenham and Liverpool in an attempt to secure his signature. Kelly has reportedly been offered many proposals by Bournemouth to sign an extension, but he hasn’t accepted any of them, per the Football Insider source.

According to the source, Tottenham is attempting to outdo the Reds by initiating formal negotiations with the player’s representation regarding a possible summer transfer. Liverpool, meantime, is reportedly interested in signing the defender. Thus, it seems that Spurs are leading the Reds in this race right now.

In addition, Football Insider reports that a number of German teams, Newcastle United, AC Milan, Juventus, and Liverpool are interested in hiring Kelly.

Combat Fury On the left side of defense, Postecoglou frequently uses a left-footed defender. But Micky van de Ven is the only alternative available to the Australian coach to accomplish that.

Despite Ben Davies’ usage in this role this season due to Van van Ven’s absence, Postecoglou does not consider the Welshman to be a specialist center-back. Therefore, it would be wise to add a fresh defender to the center of defense, and Kelly might be a wise choice.

However, it’s also said that Liverpool is trying to acquire a new defender to replace Joel Matip, who is nearing the end of his contract and may be allowed to depart for free this summer.

Kelly is a versatile player who can play left back even though his natural position is center back at 6 feet 3 inches. In addition to being powerful, agile, and adept in the air, he also plays well out of the back, contributes effectively on defense, and has good game reading skills.

The skilled player from Bournemouth may be a wise addition to Liverpool or Tottenham should either team decide to acquire him. It would be intriguing to watch, though, if Kelly can be signed by the North London team once they defeat Liverpool in this race.
