The left-back, who was dropped by the Championship boss on Wednesday, will regret turning down Leeds in August.

Luke Thomas, a left-back, was targeted by Leeds United early in the season, but he decided to sign with Sheffield United. Now, he will undoubtedly wish he had joined us.

The highly regarded 22-year-old Thomas immediately returned to the Premier League with newly promoted Sheffield United after leaving Leicester on loan. Leeds made an attempt to sign Thomas since they desperately needed a left back.

He did, however, select Sheffield United because he wanted to play Premier League football. Before his loan was canceled in January and he was sent on loan to Middlesbrough, he only made 13 appearances for The Blades.

Considered something of a coup for Michael Carrick’s team, Thomas participated in five of the six matches that he had since been added, skipping the match against his parent team, Leicester. He hasn’t exactly leaped off the page for Boro, though.

In fact, Carrick was benched and left unutilized on Wednesday night when his team needed to win. Without Thomas, Luke Ayling’s team overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Norwich at The Riverside.

Luke Thomas will regret not signing with Leeds United in the summer.

After turning down Leeds, who are vying for automatic promotion under Daniel Farke, Thomas was released by Boro, who are currently languishing in 12th place and have no chance of making a late push for the play-offs.

If you ask Thomas now, he could be regretting his decision to accept a loan to move from Leicester to Leeds. Without a doubt, he would have started the season as the starter since left-back Junior Firpo was injured.

Thomas will now need to put in a lot of effort to regain his position in Boro’s lineup under Carrick. It will be intriguing to see where the £20,000-per-week defender ends up in the summer. Leeds may still be interested.
