This evening in Germany, West Ham United and Freiburg play a crucial Europa League last-16 match.

This season, Freiburg has already lost twice against West Ham United in the Europa League group rounds.

With victories over Brentford and Everton in the Premier League during the last ten or so days, David Moyes has turned things around.

But for the Hammers to demonstrate that we have truly advanced and become a better squad, we must win today in Germany.

Prior to the match, Freiburg had only managed two points from their previous six Bundesliga games, despite their most recent 2-2 draw with German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

Moyes will definitely select the best team he has available to him for tonight’s game, but the roster may also feature one or two extremely gifted young players.

Superb young prospect Lewis Orford has been participating in the training sessions in advance of tonight’s crucial Europa League match.

On the West Ham website, he may be seen working out with the senior squad (image 5/38).

The center midfielder has been one of Steve Potts’ team’s best players this season, tallying four goals and five assists in 22 appearances for the under-21s (Transfermarkt).

He was ranked among the top 20 young talents in the Premier League and as the most exciting young player for the Hammers back in 2022.

Lewis Orford possesses all the necessary tools to advance and establish himself as a consistent starter for the Hammers both in the Premier League and around Europe. He will surely have a very exciting future at the greatest level of the game as long as he keeps up his hard work and discipline off the field.

In the long run, it will be extremely beneficial for the 18-year-old to have some experience working with the West Ham senior team before the match against Freiburg. Although I doubt he will play any minutes tonight, it will still be beneficial for him to be on the bench.
