Key player missing training before of games against Liverpool and Newcastle United is a blow to Man City’s injury situation.

Winger Jeremy Doku’s absence from Manchester City’s first practice ahead of their Champions League match against FC Copenhagen this evening has dealt the team another injury setback. Doku played for just under an hour in Sunday’s 3-1 victory against Manchester United for City, but he was absent from their open training session prior to their Champions League Round of 16 match, raising questions over his availability for both that game and their crucial matchup against Liverpool this coming weekend.

Jack Grealish will already be out of the starting lineup till the end of the month for Pep Guardiola, who recently revealed the former Aston Villa player will probably miss their next few games, including their FA Cup Quarterfinal matchup against Newcastle United. Doku, on the other hand, experienced “mild discomfort” after Sunday’s derby day victory; it is currently unknown when he will return to the starting lineup.

The Citizens are still playing in all three competitions as they attempt to hang onto their treble as the current Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League champions. Newcastle United, which defeated City in the Carabao Cup back in September, was the only team to eliminate City from any competition this season.

Kieran Trippier, though, will be out of the Magpies’ lineup for some time as the Three Lions player is expected to miss Monday’s match against Chelsea and the trip to the Etihad Stadium. Following his calf injury sustained during the weekend’s victory against Wolves, Tino Livramento, a 21-year-old who later scored his first goal for Newcastle United, took Trippier’s place in the second half.
