“I believe”…Following his recent observations, the EFL chairman now predicts Leeds United will win the title

Chairman of Peterborough United Darragh MacAnthony has made a prediction regarding Leeds United’s chances of winning the Championship.

As they have done all season, Leicester City is now atop the table with an incredible 81 points from 36 games.

But the Foxes have been struggling lately, and they were perhaps lucky to win 1-0 against Sunderland on Tuesday to snap a three-match losing streak.

At the beginning of the year, Leicester led Leeds by 17 points, but they are now heavily involved in the fight for the top two spots, with Ipswich Town now in second place with 78 points.

In an interview with the most recent edition of the “Hard Truth Podcast,” MacAnthony predicted Leeds to defeat Leicester in the championship game, if they can maintain full fitness for the remainder of the campaign.

Anthony MacAnthony predicts Leeds to win

“Leeds will be strong if they are fully fit,” he stated. Leicester won’t win the league, in my opinion. My initial thought was that Leeds would win the league.

Leeds won’t care if they place first or second this season given the bar that has been set at the top of the Championship. It all comes down to promotion.

Leeds would likely feel let down if they became overly focused on the standings, as Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna stated on Tuesday night. In other seasons, 76 points from 36 games would be plenty to secure a comfortable lead.

Leicester’s inclusion, though, is undoubtedly advantageous for Leeds because it now involves four teams vying for two berths rather than three.

Leeds will ideally take advantage of Southampton’s remaining away games against Ipswich and Leicester to put themselves in a strong position before the final day.
