Tottenham supporters respond to the ‘unacceptable’ hike in season ticket prices.

The Supporters’ Trust for Tottenham Hotspur says it is “hugely disappointed” that season ticket prices would rise by 6% for the upcoming campaign.

Under the revised plan, the most costly adult season ticket at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would cost £2,367, while the most inexpensive would cost £856.

The club’s supporters trust also voiced their displeasure with the decision to discontinue concessions for season ticket holders 65 years of age or older beginning with the 2025–2026 season in a statement released on Wednesday.

The Tottenham Handball Association (THST) claims that after meeting with the club on February 21 and objecting to many proposed plans, Tottenham made the necessary adjustments.

“We oppose any Season Ticket increase and the removal or reduction of Senior concessions, both of which are also opposed by the Fan Advisory Board,” the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust stated in a statement.

“On February 21, the club and I had a meeting when the concepts for Season Tickets were initially presented to us as THST Board members. We had disagreements throughout the conference on a number of topics, and changes were made in response to our suggestions.

“We are still extremely disappointed, though, that Season Tickets have increased by 6%.”

The statement went on to say, “It is unacceptable that senior concessions will be completely eliminated starting in 2025/26, while discounts for senior season tickets and matchday tickets would stay constant for 2024/25.

“The Club does state that new senior season ticket holders who reach 65 for the upcoming season will receive the present 50% discount if they are in a concession area, but this will not ease the concerns of those fans who will be negatively impacted starting in 2025–2026.

“For the next five seasons, the senior season ticket discount will also be eliminated by five percent per season, meaning that starting in 2029–2030, senior supporters would pay twenty-five percent more for senior season tickets than they do now. There is no justification for this rise.

“Football is not immune to the rising costs of goods and services across the board and we continue to look at all options to minimise ticket price increases while absorbing the vast majority of costs,” the club stated in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Since the stadium reopened in April 2019, there has only been one increase in the price of season tickets, which was 1.5%. But in addition to the requirement to keep running on a sustainable basis, matchday expenses such as utilities, rates, and consumables have significantly increased and are beyond of our control.

However, the THST stated: “We don’t think either explanation is valid. The Club claims that the growth of senior concession Season Tickets to nearly four times the number at White Hart Lane is unsustainable. We argue that after years of devoted assistance, retirees are being taken advantage of by these changes.

“This Official feels that a more comprehensive conversation with the Club at the outset of this process would have resulted in more useful input and raised the possibility of an outcome with wider support.”

After making their announcement, Tottenham declined to offer any other comments.
