“Shattered”… Against Stoke City, Aidy White claims the 26-year-old Leeds player was utterly worn out

Tuesday’s match between Leeds United and Stoke City at Elland Road saw Dan James score the game’s lone goal to give his team all three points, but Aidy White says he was “absolutely shattered” by the outcome.

James had to wait for his opportunity to return to the team after suffering an injury against Norwich back in January, even though Willy Gnonto was displaying promising signs. But his opportunity came.

Daniel Farke made three changes on Tuesday night, including James. Sam Byram and Connor Roberts replaced Archie Gray and Junior Firpo. Gnonto was replaced by James on Leeds’ right side.

James scored the crucial goal after circling around and shooting with his right foot, which deflected past Daniel Iversen. Importantly, Leeds managed to hold on to the 1-0 victory and resume their winning ways.

Considering that James hasn’t played much football lately, former Leeds defender White told BBC Radio Leeds that James was “absolutely shattered” following the game.

Excellent performance; we had to work hard and grind it out. Look at Dan James; he played a great game tonight, but by the end, he was so broken that they could hardly get him off the field.

Dan James was devastated by Leeds’ victory, according to Aidy White.

James is still having a great season for Leeds, and his 11th goal came via a stroke of brilliance from Georginio Rutter, who read the Stoke players like a book before finding James. White was stunned.

Leeds produced a result despite being far from at their best. The kind of victory that only the clubs at the very top of the league can achieve. Once in the tunnel, Joe Rodon said it succinctly.

Leeds and James will now have to turn things around quickly once more. Two days after defeating Stoke, on Friday night, Leeds takes on rivals Sheffield Wednesday. One more crucial game.
