Big worries for Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou are revealed by Carl Froch: “This is a poor choice.”

Carl Froch has expressed grave concerns about “AJ” ahead of Anthony Joshua’s fight with Francis Ngannou this coming Saturday, saying, “This is a bad move.”

Ever since Joshua criticized Rob McCracken, the guy who coached Froch for the majority of his career and helped him win many super-middleweight world titles, Froch has developed a rather cynical opinion of Joshua.

Following three convincing victories against Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, and Otto Wallin in December of last year, Joshua will now make his way back to Saudi Arabia on Friday night to face Ngannou, the former heavyweight champion of the UFC who is now a boxing novice.

Ngannou performed admirably and even managed a knockdown against Tyson Fury in his debut professional fight. After ten rounds, he was stopped on points, but he was awarded a WBC rating and will now face Joshua.

Froch has been talking on his own YouTube channel, Froch on Fighting, leading up to the fight.

“If he strikes AJ on the chin the way he did against Fury, AJ gets caught, stays injured, and takes a very long time to get better. He let out a gasket in Pulev’s face. He was boxing, moving smoothly, yet it took him four or five rounds to finish the job.

“With Ngannou, he won’t have that time. It’s a 10-round battle, and Ngannou will put him on the ropes. Because of its resemblance to an exhibition, AJ finds it unsafe. The only reason he’s doing this is because he needs to go in there and win so he can get his money.

“AJ is attempting to secure an undisputed bout with the victor of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, but that fight will still be available to him. If this doesn’t work out, it could be the end of his career, so this could be a really bad move.”

Once the bout between Usyk and Fury on May 18 is decided, it is believed that the winner has a high chance of facing the newly minted undisputed heavyweight king.
