Timo Werner is adamant that considering a long-term move to Tottenham is not the right moment. After joining the Premier League team on loan from RB Leipzig in January, the German scored his first goal on Saturday, tying the score in a thrilling 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Werner was in a good position at the back post to head in a low cross from Brennan Johnson. The striker, who formerly played for Chelsea, scored his first Premier League goal since April 20, 2022. A few months later, he returned to Leipzig, but this season, he was not as productive as before, which is why he temporarily moved to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Additionally, in his seven games for Spurs, the 27-year-old has contributed three goals, making an excellent first impression. Just four years after Chelsea paid £45 million for the quick striker, Werner is now available for purchase by the north Londoners for an estimated £15 million.

Werner, meanwhile, maintains that he and his teammates are only considering making it into the Champions League, and he is not considering permanently joining Ange Postecoglou’s team at this time. Spurs are five points behind fourth place despite their victory over Palace and Aston Villa’s thrilling victory against Luton on the same day.

But Postecoglou’s club also has a match against the Villans coming up at Villa Park. Regarding his future, Werner stated, “There’s no need to think about it because we have so many big games coming up in the next several weeks.

Timo Werner scored his first goal in England in almost two years against Crystal Palace.

“Our main goal is to finish the season in the Champions League spots, so this was a significant outcome. We play an important game against Aston Villa next week, and if we win, we will have a great opportunity of hitting our goal.”

“I’m very pleased, very happy, because it was an important one, especially after the big first half chance,” the 57-cap Germany international continued after scoring. I haven’t really felt under pressure to score [my first goal for Spurs] since this group of lads has welcomed me with open arms right away.

“They have made it simple for me to concentrate on my football game, and now that I’ve accomplished my first goal, it’s much more beneficial for me. This was a significant step toward boosting my confidence, which I aim to carry over into our upcoming games.”

Ange Postecoglou, the head of Tottenham, is expected to turn down offers from “wealthier clubs.”

When asked if Werner’s goal could be a turning point for the loanee, Spurs manager Antal Postecoglou responded, “I know that goals for attacking players cheer them up, give them more confidence, and take some of the pressure off of them, but like I said, I thought he was really aggressive with his running.”

“He persisted in tackling the full-back, and aside from the squandered opportunity, I thought his overall play was excellent. It was pleasing for us, and it was a crucial moment in the game,so it was fantastic for him to score. As you say, goals always help.”
