Spurs’ Postecoglou warns on social media while Sessegnon expresses opinions

Spurs center back After undergoing surgery on his left hamstring, Sessegnon underwent surgery on his right hamstring on Monday. He also posted a caution on social media, advising followers to “be careful what you say online”.

Due to his career-damaging ailments, the 23-year-old Sessegnon has received negative feedback about his fitness record on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter.

“I guess the easy thing to say is, ‘look just stay off social media,’ and that’s easy for me to say,” Postecoglou said in remarks made ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game at home against London rivals Crystal Palace.

“I can do that but I guess for younger people it’s a vehicle for them or a platform for them to have a voice, which I kind of understand.”

“They also need to be mature enough to understand that, for lack of a better phrase, sometimes the audience views social media as if it were a prison yard and they are innocent,” the Australian continued.

“You won’t receive a great deal of sympathy. The most of it will be directed against you.

“Well, if you’re kind of ready for that, then great, but if you’re just going in there to try to feel good, my feeling is that you’re not going to feel great about yourself after that, in my opinion.

“Even when you have the purest of motives for expressing yourself or publishing what you wish to publish. Simply put, after using that kind of platform, you’re bound to think, “Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”

Sessegnon will miss the remainder of the season, while fifth-place Spurs hope to resurrect their Champions League hopes without Richarlison (knee) for the encounter against Palace.

Early elimination from domestic cup competitions frees up Tottenham to focus on the league, but it might make it more difficult for them to reintegrate players who are coming back from injuries.

Former Celtic manager Postecoglou stated, “At the moment, if we get an injury, then we’re liable to throw in somebody who hasn’t played for four or five weeks.” “That player is not having it easy.

On the other hand, if you have games, you naturally need to follow a schedule that also provides you with some rhythm.

“I had the other extreme last year of 60-plus games at Celtic, but I found that a lot easier to manage than having a disrupted season like we’ve had this year.”
