Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou is emphatic that work still needs to be done at that level despite these encouraging signals.
Regarding Tottenham’s academy, Postecoglou recently stated, “I think we’ve got a lot of work to do and Simon Davies is certainly one that is putting a lot of emphasis and priority there.”
“We definitely don’t have the production line that other elite teams do. We are currently investing in some younger players, even for the starting squad, for this reason. That is unquestionably the best course of action for our football team. Right now, my focus is still mostly on the first team and how to develop one while providing young players with opportunity.
If anything, I believe that this is the best approach for long-term success since, if you have positive experiences with them, a team of guys of similar ages grows together.

At the first team level, that is what we are doing. At the academy level, there is still a lot of work to be done. Simon is a fantastic man who has experience working at some of the top academies in the industry and is aware of what is required. We currently have some excellent coaches working there. Although this year has been better than last, I believe we are still far behind other teams in terms of developing a pipeline of young players.”
After Postecoglou’s remarks regarding the Spurs production line, it seems that Rio Bromfield, a young defender, won’t be making his way into the starting lineup.
