Who will lose in the battle for survival in the Premier League

With just 12 games left in the season, Sheffield United and Burnley appear doomed, 11 points from safety in the Premier League.

However, who else runs the risk of being demoted to the Championship? Which teams will continue to play?

Eight points separate 18th-placed Luton from the five teams directly above them, who are Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Everton, Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace. It appears to be a one-from-six situation.

However, it’s not simple…

Following charges for suspected breaches in their 2022–2023 accounts in January, Everton and Forest are both facing nervous waits.

Forest’s case is scheduled for hearings on March 7 and 8.

Should it be discovered that they violated the regulations, they will lose points. An appeal could be filed against the decision, which is not anticipated until April.

If there is an appeal, the process might continue until May 24, which is one week after the season ends on May 19.

Everton received a 10-point deduction in November for violating the profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) for the three-year term ending in 2021–2022.

After an appeal, the punishment was lowered to six points.
