The Liverpool star called the Tottenham midfielder “very aggressive” and a “real pain” to play against because “he keeps hitting you

The Liverpool player Alexis Mac Allister spoke with Directv Sports and the Argentine media in a lengthy interview on Thursday.

After the Reds’ recent EFL Cup triumph against Chelsea, the midfield player talked about some of his fellow countrymen, including Cristian Romero of Tottenham.

Mac Allister, who was acquired by Liverpool for €42 million from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, is no stranger to the Spurs player, having faced them before.

Since then, not much has changed as the Reds midfielder has made it plain that no matter what team he plays for, going up against the Tottenham defender never gets any easier.

We had a couple run-ins with Cuti Romero, he claimed. He’s a tremendous pain—extremely aggressive, and he will hit you until you give up. However, our wonderful friendship makes things easier.

In addition to the Tottenham player, Mac Allister concentrated on Enzo Fernandez, one of his more recent rivals, with whom he squared off in the cup final against Chelsea.

The two have a mutual appreciation for one another and know one another well enough to often exchange a few words before taking the field.

“We respect each other a lot and say hello to each other before the game,” Mac Allister continued. We get along really well, me and him. Respect is always abundant on both sides. You defend your team once you step onto the field.
