“Give it some thought” BBC expert believes Daniel Farke might need to realign the position of a Leeds player right now

“Give it some thought” BBC expert believes Daniel Farke might need to realign the position of a Leeds player right now.

Although Daniel Farke made a number of changes to his Leeds United team last night, the caliber of play did not suffer.

Mateo Joseph made his second start of the season and scored the team’s first two goals. Jaidon Anthony was another newcomer who had an immediate effect.

Farke also made a few positional adjustments, starting Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray, the midfield duo that began the season and has been desperately required at the back in the league.

Throughout his career, Ampadu has switched between midfield and defense, but there’s no denying that the former is his strongest position. While Gray fills in at right-back, he plays very much like a center midfield player.

After the game, Jon Newsome of BBC Radio Leeds stated that he thought Farke will decide whether to send Gray back there permanently. Gray put on an amazing individual display that earned him the Man of the Match award on ITV.

As per Newsome, Farke has called Gray for midfield currently.

“The way that Archie covered grass tonight, you know he’s matured so much as a player,” the man remarked. Archie is passing the ball to Firpo and yelling at him to advance throughout this second half as he is approaching from the left.

At seventeen, he is literally narrating the drama. It’s not like he’s directing 27- or 28-year-old men around like a child at another workplace. That maturity, conviction, and football intelligence are admirable.

“I believe he really put a stake in the ground tonight, telling Daniel Farke that perhaps he should give this some thought.”

Before the game, Archie’s great uncle Eddie genuinely stated that the 17-year-old would be far more effective for Leeds in his proper position. Last night’s results undoubtedly validated his assessment.

While Gray has been playing right-back lately, Connor Roberts is ready to step in should Farke decide to go to midfield. Gray just plays at a higher level there.

Due to injury, Ilia Gruev was unable to play against Chelsea. If he is not well enough to play against Huddersfield Town, Gray and Glen Kamara in the middle, with Ampadu at center back and Roberts on the right, could form the midfield.
