“They are doing incredibly well.” After last night’s match, Mauricio Pochettino had high comments for Leeds

After Leeds United’s thrilling 3-2 FA Cup victory over Chelsea, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praise on his team.

At Stamford Bridge, a significantly transformed Leeds team pushed their Premier League rivals to the limit and, but for Conor Gallagher’s game-winning goal in the ninetieth minute, the match would have rightfully gone into overtime.

After goals from Nicolas Jackson and Mykhaylo Mudryk, Mateo Joseph scored Leeds’ first two goals of the game. Gallagher, perhaps against the run of play, then completed the scoring.

In his post-match interview, Gallagher expressed his admiration for Leeds, adding Daniel Farke’s team deserves respect for their performance against a highly-paid Chelsea team.

During the pregame press conference, Pochettino stated that Leeds appeared to be a team “full of confidence” and that they made it “tough” for his team to perform well.

Pochettino is pleased with Leeds’ effort.

“I believe we needed this outcome,” he remarked. Not a very good performance. This is a confident and incredibly powerful team. They are winning the Championship with great success. For us, it was difficult.

“After giving in a couple of minutes. However, the team can learn from the character we displayed in the wake of this incident. We are overjoyed to have made it to the quarterfinals and escaped extra time.

Leeds can be encouraged by their performance from yesterday night and shouldn’t let it get to them because they still have a nine-game winning streak in the Championship.

In addition to Crysencio Summerville, Glen Kamara, and Willy Gnonto on the bench, Farke was missing some important players in Georginio Rutter and Ilia Gruev.

It’s encouraging to see Chelsea praising Leeds’ performance that evening, and this could help if promotion is won in May.
