Report: Should the midfielder sign a new contract, the club will owe Spurs a “lump payment.”

 

 

According to The Athletic, if Dele Alli decides to extend his current contract at Goodison Park beyond the summer, Tottenham will get a fee from Everton.

 

Dele last participated in a competitive game for Besiktas more than a year ago. The midfielder’s loan stay with the team was terminated last year because of a rectus femoris injury.

 

The former Tottenham player has subsequently seen a number of setbacks in his recuperation, and The Athletic report that while he is now making progress, a comeback before the end of the season is not anticipated (though it hasn’t been completely ruled out).

 

According to the article, Everton did not pay a price to Tottenham in the original 2022 agreement; instead, it was agreed that the Merseyside club would receive £10 million if the player made 20 appearances.

Dele has only made 13 appearances to date, and it’s been said that Everton is willing to offer the midfield player a new contract as his current one is due to expire.

 

However, the article notes that, in accordance with the rules of the original deal, Sean Dyche’s team would owe Spurs a lump sum should the 27-year-old sign new terms.

 

According to The Athletic, the two teams will get together shortly to renegotiate contracts, and it is anticipated that the aforementioned item will be covered.

Levy and company may not be eager to give in to Everton, but Dele’s career is not served by the existing arrangement, which discourages the Toffees from playing him or giving him a new deal.

 

The midfield player still has a lot of friends at Spurs, and I have no doubt that the team will show some compassion and renounce some of the original agreements.
