Postecoglou wins manager of the year over Arteta

Postecoglou wins manager of the year over Arteta.

At the London Football Awards 2024, Ange Postecoglou of Tottenham defeated Mikel Arteta of Arsenal to win manager of the year.

In his first season in north London, the Australian has made an impression. He oversaw the departure of captain Harry Kane and introduced an exciting brand of aggressive football to the N17 that hasn’t been witnessed under previous managers.

Spurs did lose the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup early, but they are still very much in the running to make it back to the Champions League after a year away.

Even though the Spaniard was in charge of another championship race a few miles away, Postecoglou defeated 2023 winner Arteta to earn the trophy, hoping to improve on his run-in disaster from the previous season.

Arsenal is also competing in the Champions League knockout stages under Arteta, but they need to overcome a 1-0 first-leg setback against Porto in order to advance to the quarterfinals.

David Moyes of West Ham, Emma Hayes, the departing head coach of Chelsea Women, and Richie Wellens of Leyton Orient were also nominated.
