“For now,” Paul Merson has abruptly shifted his opinion on where Tottenham will end the current campaign.

This Saturday at 3pm, Tottenham Hotspur will finally return to Premier League action.

When Spurs last played on February 17, Ange Postecoglou’s team lost 2-1 to Wolves, and things didn’t go as planned.

Tottenham will now play Crystal Palace, a team in London, at N17 in an attempt to reclaim some ground and finish in the top four.

Spurs currently sit fifth in the standings, five points behind Aston Villa in fourth place, but the Villans still have a game in hand.

Paul Merson, writing on Sportskeeda, has since revised his prediction on Tottenham vs Villa to finish in the top four.

The expert predicted Spurs to finish ahead of the Villans just two weeks prior, but he admitted that things in sport can change drastically.

Now that he thinks Villa can defeat Tottenham and qualify for the Champions League, Merson feels that his team is stronger than Tottenham’s defense.

“It’s between Tottenham and Villa, and I think Manchester United is a million miles away from the race for a top-four spot right now,” Merson stated.

“At the moment, Spurs are too open at the back for my comfort level, so I think I’ll go with Villa to secure UEFA Champions League football next season.”

Manchester United, Tottenham, and Aston Villa are all vying for a top-four spot in the Premier League.

Three clubs are fighting for the final slot in the top four this season, so it could be an intriguing competition.

Given how open the league is, Villa, Spurs, and Man United are all in with a chance. In the upcoming months, there may be many more musical chairs.

Unless there is a major upset, the Red Devils’ matchup with a formidable Manchester City team this weekend at the Etihad Stadium might very well eliminate them from the top-four chase.

Although Palace defeated Burnley 3-0 last time out, Tottenham will be eager to make up for their loss from just two weeks ago. This is still a game that they can win at home.

It will be intriguing to watch how things play out in the top division because Villa is away at Luton Town, a very difficult team, especially on their home field.the final four races of match week 27
