Despite Leeds United’s loss to Chelsea, Lee Dixon awards the Man of the Match award to a “outstanding” player.
Despite falling short 3-2 to Chelsea in the FA Cup last night, Leeds United should be pleased with their performance.
After an extremely evenly fought contest, Conor Gallagher’s goal in the 90th minute was the only thing separating the Whites from their Premier League opponents. The Whites dominated the match from start to finish.
After Mateo Joseph scored his first goal for the team earlier in the evening, the hosts took the lead thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson and Mykhaylo Mudryk just before halftime.
After that, near the hour mark, Joseph scored his second goal of the match, but Gallagher’s late strike sent Chelsea to the next round.
ITV pundit Lee Dixon named Leeds star Archie Gray Man of the Match despite the team losing, saying that he outperformed £200 million players Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
Dixon astounded by Gray’s performance
“Playing against a midfield player worth £200 million, I think he has been outstanding, so I’m going to give it to Archie Gray,” he declared.
Given that teams like Liverpool and Tottenham have already expressed interest in Gray, who was simply outstanding at Stamford Bridge, it is unlikely that he will have stopped the game’s best from considering him.

Leeds’ drive for Joseph’s second goal of the match was sparked by the 17-year-old’s dribble on the outskirts of his own box. The youngster simply never seems to be phased by anything.
