After what happened last night, a “fantastic” Nottingham Forest player ought to be in Nuno’s starting lineup, according to some

Nicolas Dominguez demonstrated his importance to Nottingham Forest Friday night during their match against Manchester United without really kicking a ball.

After a late sucker punch from Casemiro in added time at the end of the second half, Forest had to concede defeat and go out of the FA Cup.

It was a night on the substitutes bench for Forest’s Dominguez, an 11-cap Argentina player, and it shouldn’t become the norm for him.

The importance of Nicolas Dominguez to Nottingham Forest

Usually, it’s Ryan Yates from Forest who receives praise for just being a nuisance by constantly running about.

Nuno Espirito Santo need more than the minimum requirements for a professional football player, though, in a system that only uses two center midfielders.

He does require the intensity of a player similar to Yates in the middle of the park, but he also needs someone with football skills, like Dominguez.

The 25-year-old was sorely missed by Forest last night as Manchester United was able to control the game’s final minutes and eventually score a late goal.

Without actually kicking a ball against the Red Devils last night, Dominguez demonstrated his value to the current Forest squad. He wasn’t even introduced.

Hopefully, Dominguez will be rested for Saturday.

Perhaps the Argentine’s removal from the starting eleven in the first place was a touch too harsh.

Espirito Santo did appear eager to make some changes, though, as several players were given more playing time.

Yates, Divock Origi, and Matt Turner all started when they hadn’t been performing consistently in the previous few weeks.

Dominguez is adored by TNT analyst Darren Fletcher, who called him “fantastic” early in the season.

The significance of Forest midfielder Dominguez is highlighted by Who Scored.

Among all Forest players, he has made the most tackles with fifty-five thus far this season.

In addition, he has completed more successful short passes than any other central midfield player that is still with the team.

More importantly, he commits less fouls than Yates as well; throughout the season, the academy graduate commits 20 more fouls than Dominguez.

Espirito Santo will have gained a lot of insight into his squad from last night’s game, which might have gone either way.

But even if Dominguez didn’t kick a ball, it was clear how important he is to the Portuguese manager’s style of play!
