Paul Robinson, a Sky Sports analyst and former Tottenham goalkeeper, thinks Ange Postecoglou might try to recruit a significant player for Spurs this summer.

Spurs rumored to be hiring a new defender

Even if the quality of their defense has significantly improved from the previous season, Postecoglou is still eager to make additional defensive changes.

Last month, Radu Dragusin signed a £25 million contract to leave Genoa, but it appears Tottenham wants a different center back after the Romanian. They’ve been associated with a number of prospects, including Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, and Spurs are rumored to be interested in a full-back replacement for Pedro Porro.

In fact, N17 is reportedly showing interest in Udinese sensation Festy Ebosele and Southampton star Kyle Walker-Peters; the team’s former scout, Bryan King, has even urged them to move for the former.

“They are pretty strong down the left, so it could be helpful to have some cover on the right,” King told Tottenham News.

“It seems like he’s the ideal player to add. Given his age and the fact that he knows enough Italian people at the club, such Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario, I think he would have no trouble adjusting.

His background suggests that he could be able to fill in for Pedro Porro and provide Tottenham’s team with extra depth. This signing seems like a smart idea to me.

Tottenham fans should anticipate more elite players to join the team at the back after Dragusin in the winter and Micky van de Ven in the summer, if these recent claims are any indication.

Robinson encourages Ange to pursue a center-back signing on his own

Returning to the center-back position, Sky analyst Robinson has endorsed rumors that Spurs may add a new player to that position. He also thinks Postecoglou will look for a new central defensive option at Tottenham.

Given his versatility as a center-half, Davies is a fantastic option. However, I believe he will examine that area—the back for,” Robinson remarked.

Dragusin is a fantastic addition. Although he’s only recently come off the bench and we haven’t seen anything of him, Romero and Van de Ven’s relationship is undoubtedly his first choice. Dragusin will be involved if there is an injury or suspension in that area. Thus, if you’re going to go through a season with those three, I believe he might add another for strength and depth the following season.

Maybe the most sensible alternative, among all the ones we think could be most practical in this regard, would be teenage defender Riccardo Calafiori of Bologna. The 21-year-old, who has been connected to a move to north London, can play left or center back, which means he may cover for Destiny Udogie. Additionally, his worth is only £26 million.
