Fabrizio Romano provides additional insights about Antonio Nusa scenario after deal breaks down

Antonio Nusa will not be coming to Brentford this summer after his move to the Premier League team fell through in January, but a number of other elite clubs remain interested in the young Norwegian star.

The January transfer window was something of a rollercoaster trip for Antonio Nusa. Seemingly out of nowhere, the 18-year-old surfaced as a target for Tottenham, and a move to North London appeared to be very much on the cards at one moment (The Athletic).

However, Brentford quickly swooped and thought to have the deal done up themselves. That is, until medical concerns scuppered the agreement, with Brentford fearing Nusa was not totally fit due to knee and back ailments (Ben Jacobs).

Nusa remained with Club Brugge after the expiration of the window, but earlier this month, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that there were actually no injury concerns with the teenage winger.

More recently, journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated Brentford had dropped their interest in signing Nusa, perhaps leaving the door open for Spurs in the summer.

Premier League clubs remain eager on Antonio Nusa

Now, Fabrizio Romano has supplied a fresh update that appears to corroborate that, as he reveals Brentford will not be signing Nusa, while many of other big clubs are still keen, including several from the Premier League.

He tweeted: “Antonio Nusa’s move to Brentford will not happen — it remains off after issues in January. Deal was verbally accepted, medical also done in England but definitely collapsed. There are various European clubs now keen again on signing Nusa — Premier League clubs and not only.”

I’m not really sure how I feel about signing Antonio Nusa anymore. I realize that the medical stuff appears to have been cleared up now, but I’m just curious what that was all about. Surely Brentford wouldn’t have aborted the deal for no reason, and we should be very careful about potential underlying injury issues with any new addition.
