Tottenham made an unexpected attempt to re-sign a player who had left four years prior.

There are rumors that Tottenham wants to sign a player again who they sold four years ago.

Even with the recent end of the winter transfer season, Spurs has been active in the transfer market and has already identified targets for the next window.

Former Spurs defender Kyle Walker-Peters is one of the players connected to a comeback.

The Athletic has reported that Tottenham is considering re-signing the English right-back from Southampton by taking use of a buyback clause in Walker-Peters’ contract.

The clause, which is supposedly worth £30 million, gives Spurs the chance to bring the adaptable defender back to North London.

But Walker-Peters is not just a Premier League player that Spurs are interested in; Arsenal and Manchester United have also enquired about the defender’s availability.

Walker-Peters has been a reliable player for Southampton since joining the team permanently in 2020 following a fruitful loan period.

According to the report, despite having a contract with the club through 2025, there has been little movement in negotiations for a new deal, which has led to rumors that he would leave.

Walker-Peters has been a mainstay at St. Mary’s Stadium, starting all 33 Championship games this year and dishing out two goals and two assists in the process.

The 26-year-old has proven his adaptability by starting most of his games as a right-back but also showing that he can play on the left side and in more advanced positions like attacking midfield and right wing.

Given his versatility and experience with the team, Walker-Peters could prove to be a vital addition to Tottenham’s roster as a backup to Pedro Porro, especially with his contract expiring in less than 18 months.
