Sir Nick Faldo reacts to viral Rory McIlroy clip: “Wait till he gets to 66”
Rory McIlroy was recently given the task of attempting to recall all 24 of his PGA Tour victories.
The 34-year-old Northern Irishman was given the challenge by Golf Digest as part of promoting the next edition of The Match.
McIlroy will appear in the ninth iteration of the contest on 26 February.
Fellow PGA Tour pro Max Homa will also take part alongside LPGA Tour superstars Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson.
The Match will be played under lights, replicating the 2022 Match where he played alongside Tiger Woods against Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.
McIlroy fared well in the challenge, only forgetting that he won the 2014 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
“That was one of my favourite wins,” he said.
Rory McIlroy’s former agent thinks he knows what’s holding him back.
Brandel Chamblee also saw the two-minute clip and commented: “Not sure what’s so hard about this… I can name all of mine in order.”
The comment was clearly in jest given Golf Channel analyst Chamblee only has one PGA Tour win which came in 1998 at the Greater Vancouver Open.
Sir Nick Faldo also saw the video and wrote on X: “Wait till he gets to 66 years old!”
Faldo won 43 times across the globe in his legendary playing career that saw him win six major championships.
