“Observe the figures”: Tottenham apparently wants to sign a midfield player for £43 million, saying he’s superior than Rodri

Hakan Calhanoglou, a reported target for Tottenham Hotspur, has asserted audaciously that he is the world’s best defensive midfielder, surpassing even Rodri of Manchester City.

For many years, there have been rumors that the Turk would join the Premier League. Numerous teams, notably Tottenham led by Ange Postecoglou, have reportedly expressed interest in signing him.

Hakan Calhanoglou, a Tottenham target, claims he is superior to Rodri

In his three years at Inter Milan, Hakan Calhanoglou has started nearly every game in the defensive midfield position.

Over the years, the 30-year-old has played a variety of roles on the field. Although he has always been recognized for his attacking ability, he has done a great job adjusting to his deeper role.

Calhanoglou, on the other hand, seems to think highly of himself; certainly more highly than we do. The Turk described himself as the world’s best defensive midfielder in a video posted on DAZN’s TikTok channel.

He put himself ahead of Rodri of Manchester City, Toni Kroos of Real Madrid, Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich, and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea in his ranking.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Calhanoglou elaborated on his evaluation, saying, “Why am I the best? Others don’t score goals because I do.

The numbers show that I almost always score from 25 to 30 meters away or from a free kick instead of scoring from close range. These are challenging tasks.

“Everyone manages well, then, but I don’t enjoy making passes from five meters away.”

Hakan Calhanoglou is being pursued by Tottenham to take Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s role.

Although Tottenham has performed admirably over the last two transfer windows, much work remains.

Inter Live reported at the end of October of last year that if Tottenham advanced to the Champions League and ultimately lost Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, they would attempt to recruit Hakan Calhanoglou.

According to the source, Inter Milan would seek £43 million in compensation to allow Calhanoglou to leave, meaning the Dane is almost set to depart in the summer.

The above cost would be a steal if Calhanoglou were “the best defensive midfielder in the world,” but we don’t think he is.

We will be surprised if Tottenham makes a move for him this summer because of this.
