Scouts are astounded by the Tottenham specialist who identifies the player who is “attracting some attention.”

Ashley Phillips, a young player on loan from Tottenham, has been thriving at his new team.

Last month, the young center back signed a loan deal with Plymouth Argyle of the Championship, committing to stay with the team for the duration of the campaign.

Since his arrival, Phillips has played in eight FA Cup games and the English second division, fitting well into Plymouth’s starting lineup.

The defender’s outstanding start at Plymouth Argyle has been praised by Spurs expert John Wenham, who expressed his appreciation for Phillips’s efforts, which are starting to “attract some attention.”

Wenham compared Phillips to Chelsea’s rising star defender Levi Colwill in an interview with Tottenham News, pointing out how both players have thrived during their loan stints.

He declared:

“Phillips consistently receives excellent reviews. He have every quality to be a premier center back, and he is proving it in the Championship already.

“I am really happy about that because people in scouting roles who have been watching him play are praising him to the moon.”

“I believe that a Premier League loan for Phillips should come next season, as he has progressed much more quickly than I had anticipated.”

“We have a young defender on loan who is doing well in the Premier League; we could be looking at our very own Levi Colwill.”

Ashley Phillips was signed by Spurs for a five-year deal in the summer after being signed by Blackburn for a mere £2 million.

Following Romero and Micky van de Ven’s injuries early in the season, the 18-year-old came dangerously close to playing football for the first team. Ange was supposed to give him a chance, but the boy unluckily sustained an injury of his own.

Says TBH:

Phillips’s performances at such a young age suggest that he is a promising defender in the making.

Before he becomes a member of the Tottenham club, he will probably be sent on loan to another Premier League team the following season as part of his development.
