“Clattenburg, what are you doing?” ‘Disappointed’ Neville was in Forest

Kalvin Phillips, a struggling midfielder, has promised to restart his West Ham career and hopes that his red card at Nottingham Forest would put an end to a string of unfortunate events.

The 28-year-old, whose career stalled at Manchester City after his 2022 transfer from Leeds, has had a terrible start to life at the London Stadium since joining on loan in January.

After receiving two yellow cards in the span of two minutes and 56 seconds, he was sent off during the Hammers’ 2-0 loss at the City Ground. He was also held accountable for goals given up against Bournemouth and Manchester United.

Phillips is eager to make amends and was hoping that his relocation would be a “fresh start.”

“I hope I’ve had my three pieces of bad luck and I can move on now, because they say bad luck comes in threes,” he stated.

“I wanted to start over here, put my all into it, and really go for it.” It hasn’t disappeared as I had planned. That is visible to all.

However, I am familiar with football. I have enough experience to know that things will turn around if I grit my teeth, put my head down, and follow the fundamentals.

It’s simple to say, but I have to act on it immediately.

“On a football field, there are certain things you have to do. All right, so I was working out with the world’s top team, but playing games sharpens your mind.

“So that’s why I’m gutted and frustrated.”

When Taiwo Awoniyi’s first-half goal put West Ham behind, Phillips was booked twice in as many minutes in the second half. First, for scuffing Nicolas Dominguez, and then for fouling Morgan Gibbs-White.

After the match, he attempted to meet with referee Thomas Bramall, but the City Ground was not amused.

“I’m displeased with the initial booking that I made. I’ve tried to shove him off, but he has my shoulder. Maybe I should kick the ball at him the next time to get my point across,” he continued.

“We were losing, and I was becoming frustrated. However, I will get knowledge from it.

“As for the second, I haven’t spoken to Morgan (Gibbs-White). He’s jumped up, which is understandable, but to be really honest, I didn’t make any touch.

“I’ve been waiting to speak with the referee outside his room.

“I would like to speak with you, but he hasn’t emerged in the last 30 minutes. I’m not sure if he is aware of my presence. I had no desire to beat him. All I wanted to do was speak with him about it.

“However, it appears that I will be leaving without saying my piece, and I’m really disappointed—even more so because I’ve been working really hard to put myself back in a position where I can contribute, and now I have to miss a game.”
