Exclusive: Top manager turns down offer from Premier League team to work for West Ham

After turning down Crystal Palace, Julen Lopetegui is interested in taking the West Ham United position, sources have told Football Insider.

 

The former Wolves manager is rumored to be keen to get back into the Premier League and to work for one of the top ten English teams.

 

Football Insider has been informed by reliable sources that the Spaniard is “keen” to move to the London Stadium despite intense pressure from current manager David Moyes.

 

Lopetegui turned down a Crystal Palace job offer to succeed Roy Hodgson, but he would return to management if the Irons extended the offer.

The 57-year-old left Wolves shortly before the current campaign began, and Gary O’Neil took his place. On Saturday, February 17, Wolves defeated Tottenham 2-1 to climb up to 11th place in the standings.

Football Insider (18 February) disclosed that West Ham has been preparing backup plans in the event that they are obliged to fire Moyes, and they have a roster of possible replacements.

 

Due to the Hammers’ dismal performance, the Scotsman, who has lost every game in all competitions this year, has been under intense fire.

 

After the team’s 2-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, February 17, scrutiny increased even further, with a sizable portion of the fan base calling for his immediate dismissal.

 

Before joining Wolves, Lopetegui was at Porto, Real Madrid, and Sevilla. Reports also indicate that AC Milan is considering replacing Stefano Pioli with Lopetegui.
