Moyes issues a stern warning to West Ham supporters who are demanding his dismissal

After irate West Ham supporters demanded that David Moyes quit the team, the manager blasted back, saying, “Other managers might have excited you more-but the one sitting here wins more.”

A ‘Moyes Out’ banner was hoisted in the away end by traveling supporters following a 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest, which extended their winless streak to eight games in all competitions since the beginning of 2024.

Moyes’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and the lack of success has raised new questions about his future, putting a halt to negotiations for an extension.

When the 60-year-old ended West Ham’s lengthy trophy drought in the Europa Conference League last season, he cemented his position in West Ham legend. However, a sizable portion of the club’s supporters want the Scot to be replaced by a more progressive manager when his contract expires.

Regarding the disapproval of the fans, Moyes remarked, “I’m pretty long in the tooth; it happens and I don’t think you can please everybody.”

It’s difficult to argue that there haven’t been many better moments at West Ham. While they may have desired a different experience, I believe that, if they are sincere, they would have to admit that winning a trophy and league positions has been the best part of their tenure at the club.

“The person sitting here wins more, but maybe they’ve had managers who excite them more.”

Deep into first-half stoppage time, Taiwo Awoniyi gave Forest the lead. After Kalvin Phillips was sent off, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s late goal sealed a well-earned victory.

If Brighton defeats relegation-threatened Sheffield United on Sunday, the Hammers’ hopes of qualifying for Europe could collapse, and they would tumble to ninth place.

As a team and as a manager, “we’re hurting really badly because we haven’t had good results for five or six weeks now,” Moyes continued.

“But we’ve already defeated Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham this season, so we can’t forget that there were happy days not too long ago.”
