In football, especially for West Ham, the proverb “a week is a long time in politics” is undoubtedly accurate.

Consider David Moyes as an example. His situation is really peculiar.

The seasoned Scot has performed admirably from the outside looking in, not least since he guided the Hammers to the Europa Conference League title the previous season.

However, there has always been a murmur of dissatisfaction within about the practical, occasionally laborious style of football that the former Manchester United manager has implemented during his second spell at the London Stadium.

When rumors surfaced earlier in the season that Moyes, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign, was expected to sign a new agreement, few would have objected. The Hammers were sixth in the Premier League and had just won their Europa League group after defeating Arsenal 2-0 on December 28.

However, it appears that the West Ham board is growing restless about extending Moyes’ tenure as of late.

They were humiliated 6-0 by the Gunners in the rematch last Sunday (February 11), which dropped them to seventh place in the standings. The aforementioned victory at the Emirates was their last in any competition.

Lucas Paqueta might play in Nottingham Forest vs. West Ham.

Therefore, Moyes undoubtedly needs encouragement, and the Evening Standard (15 February) reports that he has finally gotten it with the publication of a story indicating that Lucas Paqueta has resumed his training.

After hobbling off with a calf injury in the 1-1 FA Cup draw with Bristol City on January 7, the attacking midfielder has not appeared in a game. However, Moyes is expected to decide on Friday whether to allow Paqueta to play against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, February 17.

Lucas Paqueta’s comeback for West Ham is almost here.

They went on to say that Paqueta might decide to be careful in order to prevent a setback in his recuperation, but either way, he looks to be very close to making a comeback and giving West Ham the much-needed boost they need in this terrible run of form.

Who knows, maybe in the end it will be something that saves Moyes’ job in the end.
