This is where Dan Ashworth’s transfer from Newcastle United to Manchester United doesn’t add up

The Dan Ashworth stuff is getting very crazy, to be honest.

His potential transfer from Newcastle United to Manchester United has been covered by the media.

Dan Ashworth is the top sporting director in England and among the best in Europe, according to Melissa Reddy, who did a five-minute segment on Sky Sports today, Thursday. rambling on about his incredible former accomplishments, even from his time at West Brom (who he joined in 2004)…

Not to be humorous, but it seems like they are comparing Dan Ashworth to a striker who, while playing for Luton or a similar team, has scored more than thirty goals in the Premier League per season for ten years. Now that he may be moving to Manchester United, everyone is beginning to realize just how exceptional he is.

Dan Ashworth was hired by Newcastle United just two years ago.

Why hadn’t any other club paid Brighton the necessary sum to acquire him, given how evidently exceptional and exceptional he was? Earlier than NUFC in 2022?

It’s almost like this is the result of their (Sky Sports and others) current obsession with making it a seismic Man U narrative about capturing a real world marvel!

Really, it’s hilarious.

Dan Ashworth has already been given a lot of praise by the media for helping Newcastle United recruit players like Bruno and Sven Botman.

Similar to Ashworth, Bruno was signed five months before to Ashworth’s debut with Newcastle United. Botman signed with Lille during the same transfer window that NUFC acquired Bruno, delaying his Newcastle United signing until the summer to finish his Champions League campaign.

This is not to imply that Dan Ashworth performs subpar work at all.

The ridiculous media craze to portray this as some sort of catastrophic event for Newcastle United, and particularly some unbelievable game-changer that would restore Manchester United to their former status as the most formidable team under Ferguson, is the root of the whole thing.

But this is where everything breaks down and becomes unbalanced.

Craig Hope at The Mail providing an update late on Thursday.

He claims to know as of right now that:

Manchester United is willing to wait for Dan Ashworth to finish his gardening leave rather than provide what they consider to be exorbitant remuneration. It is still hoped that a compromise would be achieved, although gardening leave and contractual compensation may have to do.

Hold on, then.

Are you ready to wait another year or so to save £6m or £7m, even if you have a superstar sporting director in waiting who has the potential to alter Manchester United and a compensation sum that is almost definitely less than £10m is “excessive”?

Manchester United has spent about €1 billion (£850 million) on new players since the 2018–19 season.

Just consider that.

The majority of that money—roughly half a billion dollars or so—was squandered on people like Antony, Sancho, and numerous others.

Even so, Manchester United would have to wait another year for Dan Ashworth to save less than £10 million, and in the interim, they would undoubtedly spend and waste hundreds of millions more on further new players.

Please get up, Dan Ashworth the genuine one.
