Report: Billionaire-owned team prepared to offer £38.5 million to sign West Ham player

According to Fichajes.net, Chelsea is prepared to offer £38.5 million to sign Mohammed Kudus, a star for West Ham, in the summer. Arsenal is also reportedly interested in a deal.

The Spanish news source claims on their website (February 15) that following his stellar debut season at the London Stadium, the two London giants are eager to sign the Hammers star.

The Ghanaian international beat Chelsea to sign with the Hammers in a deal worth £38 million plus add-ons from Ajax. However, the Blues are still interested in signing him and are prepared to make a bid in the summer, which could put them ahead of Arsenal in the race for his signature because they must sell first.

“Under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, the Argentinean coach, Chelsea has demonstrated a strong desire to sign the Ghanaian midfield player and is prepared to offer a juicy sum of €45 million (£38.5 million) to acquire him. This offer could give them a significant advantage in the competition for the player since Arsenal, who is also interested in Kudus, must first generate income through sales before making a firm offer,” the statement reads.

Kudus won’t be going anywhere anytime soon at West Ham.

After overcoming many European heavyweights to land Kudus, West Ham achieved a major coup by bringing him to the team.

The likelihood of him remaining at the London Stadium for the remainder of his career is low because his talent is obvious to all and he has stated that he wants to play Champions League football and win trophies frequently throughout his career.

Thus, much like with Declan Rice, it will be extremely tough to stop him from departing when teams like Chelsea and Arsenal come calling.

He will, however, still have a lot of time left on his contract during the summer transfer window, and the club will not permit him to depart for the same kind of money that they paid for him a year ago.

It’s reasonable to assume that this is a rumor that can be disregarded in the summer because Lucas Paqueta is more likely to depart owing to a release clause that becomes active and that will boost West Ham’s negotiating position too.
