One alteration forced on Eddie Howe, £39 million man gets started: guessed Newcastle’s starting lineup to play Bournemouth

On Saturday, the Newcastle United boss will face his old team, Bournemouth, in the Eddie Howe derby.

Eddie Howe, who lost to Bournemouth back in November, will be seeking some type of retribution. That day, Dominic Solanke was the standout, leading the Cherries to a 2-0 victory with two goals.

Even if their home performance has declined, Newcastle United will need to perform far better at St. James’ Park than it did at the Vitality Stadium. The Magpies’ last victory on Tyneside came on December 16th, while their most recent home match ended in a 4–4 tie against Luton Town.

Against Bournemouth on Saturday, we think Howe will start with this Newcastle lineup in an effort to avoid any more turmoil.

Bruno Guimaraes in a familiar role for Newcastle

Bruno Guimaraes played a different role in the victory over Nottingham Forest. He has been eager to assault more since he was given permission to do so.

Bruno scored twice in a man of the match performance, proving that it worked.

However, the 26-year-old should resume his regular position as the “six” on Saturday. Considering that we are at home and will likely see a lot more of the ball, it seems likely.

If the game is not going well for Newcastle, Howe will at least have the option of releasing Bruno further up the ground.

Premier League: Newcastle United vs. Luton Town

Starting for Bournemouth is Harvey Barnes.

Harvey Barnes should start for the Magpies in their lone alteration.

Despite his return from injury, the £39 million player has not started a game for Newcastle since September. That might, however, alter this weekend given Howe’s constrained offensive options.

Due to an injury sustained in the victory over Forest, Callum Wilson is doubtful for the match and has not been seen in practise. Concerning himself too, Jacob Murphy was sidelined at the City Ground due to an injury he sustained during the warm-up.

That might mean Anthony Gordon playing as a striker and Barnes moving in to play on the left wing.

Predicted starting lineup for the match against Bournemouth: Almiron, Gordon, Barnes; Longstaff, Bruno, Miley; Trippier, Schar, Botman, and Burn.
