Darren Bent finds it absurd that the 24-year-old would have to quit Newcastle United this summer.

About a Newcastle United player who might be leaving this summer, Darren Bent finds it hard to accept what he is hearing.

Everyone is well aware after the difficult and drawn-out January transfer window that Newcastle, despite having the wealthiest owners in football, is severely limited in how much it can spend.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent branded the idea that Newcastle could have to sell players like Alexander Isak in order to raise money to reinvest in other parts of the field as “ridiculous.”

Bent is irate about Newcastle’s financial constraints.

Although the team will undoubtedly make every effort to retain Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, and Sven Botman, it is still a possibility should Newcastle’s options run out in the summer.

They feel that they shouldn’t even need to rely on this to advance, but they will be appreciative of the Champions League and Adidas funding that is now flowing in to support them.

It would be absurd to claim that any of the Premier League’s biggest and most prestigious teams—such as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City—have to sell a player in order to raise funds for further investment.

As Chelsea has demonstrated over the past 18 months, they are able to publicly spend more than £1 billion without having to sell anyone else, but Newcastle was unable to pay the loan price for Kalvin Phillips in January.

Bent finds it quite difficult to see how, with these limitations, clubs like Newcastle are ever supposed to be able to compete with the best.

Bent stated on the show: “It’s going to be challenging.” Even though they are extremely wealthy, you can’t help but wonder how they can ever progress when they are unable to spend it and are discussing the possibility of having to sell their finest players.

“They won’t be as good as Isak if they have to sell him to make room for someone else.

“Though it will be challenging, they must simply carry on with Eddie Howe’s current strategy. He performed admirably the previous season.

It’s absurd. How is it possible for you to have so much money and still need to sell some of your best players?

Newcastle is looking into alternative ways to raise money.

In order to have any chance of succeeding, Newcastle must hang onto Isak for as long as possible, considering how hard it is to find elite strikers these days.

Bent correctly notes that Newcastle’s replacement for him will only be worse, so the solution is to find a different route beyond these financial obstacles.

Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron are two players who might be considered trade candidates because they are both in their 30s and becoming less and less valuable to Newcastle.

Wilson’s contract expires in just one year, so there have already been rumors that he may be let go, but Almiron was desired by Saudi clubs in January and may return in the summer.

If Newcastle wants to become a top team in the future, they will never get as much as they would if they sold Isak or Bruno, but they still need to find other ways to advance.
