The 19-year-old midfielder Alfie Devine’s potential should excite Tottenham fans greatly.

Ange Postecoglou has a gem on his hands who, in the coming years, might play a significant role for the Spurs.

Devine made the move after a successful loan stint in EFL League One with Port Vale, where he made 26 appearances, scored three goals, and contributed three assists in his first taste of senior first-team play.

He was brought back to North London and loaned to Plymouth Argyle in the Championship for the rest of the season (Spurs’ Official X, January 17). He plays alongside fellow Tottenham player Ashley Phillips, who is currently at the squad on loan.

Ian Foster, the manager of Plymouth Argyle, was all praise for the young player when he arrived in Devon.

“I know how talented he is, I know how hard-working he is, and it gives me a little bit of a head start because he knows the role and he knows exactly what I will be asking him to do,” Foster stated (via Plymouth Herald, January 17). He is aware of the fundamentals of play, regardless of the shape.

The future is bright for Tottenham Since joining Plymouth in mid-January, Devine has started each of the team’s four Championship games, demonstrating his rapid rise to prominence.

On Wednesday, February 14, at Home Park, Devine played the entire ninety minutes as his team drew 2-2 with Coventry. He was outstanding the entire time.

Apart from the assist, he managed to finish 100% of his dribbles (three out of 3) and 81% of his passes, two of which were crucial (Sofascore). He also had three shoots.

He was equally effective defensively, winning nine of his thirteen ground battles while recording two tackles and one interception.

In addition, he was fouled four times, illustrating how difficult it is for opposing defenders to contain him.

Postecoglou would have been pleased with what he observed if he had been observing.

Tottenham Postecoglou will be pleased with Devine’s development after leaving the Spurs.

Phillips likewise got off to a strong start, winning all five of his aerial duels and 100% of his ground duels. He also completed 81% of his passes, made four clearances, one interception, and blocked a shot.
