Tottenham Expert: Only matter of time before Spurs complete ‘Really Exciting’ signing

Tottenham signing Hertha Berlin midfielder and Germany Under-17 captain Boris Mamuzah Lum “is a matter of when not if,” according to John Wenham.

As per German news outlet Bild (14 February), Spurs are taking big steps to sign the “highly talented” 16-year-old who has a £3.5million release clause.

Mamuzah Lum travelled to North London on Tottenham’s invitation and attended the 3-1 home win over Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve, where he was being “persuaded” to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and was shown around the club’s facilities.

At the moment the belief is that Ange Postecoglou’s side will sign Mamuzah Lum, with Wenham full of praise for the young defensive-midfielder.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “It sounds to me like this signing is a matter of when not if.

“And it seems like Tottenham are continuing their new strategy of going out and securing the best international young players to supplement the academy players that are already coming through at Hotspur Way.

“You go back to the signings of Luka Vuskovic and Lucas Bergvall as other examples of this strategy.

“From a Tottenham perspective, these are really exciting times, and this addition would be another example of Tottenham now competing for the best international talent.

“This is exactly an area I want the club to be moving into. Let’s continue to improve our local homegrown talent but let’s also supplement that with some exciting talent from abroad.”

Tottenham building for the future

It appears as if Spurs are slowly laying down the foundations for the next decade in N17.

With the likes of Pape Matar Sarr, Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven already at the club, among others, Postecoglou has some really exciting talent on his hands.

If they can continue to add to that core group with more young talented players, such as Bergvall, Vuskovic and potentially Mamuzah Lum, it will only improve the club’s long-term prospects.

As this young group of players continues to grow together and mature, they could soon find themselves regularly competing for major honours in English football.
