Tottenham Hotspur has gained a lot of notoriety in recent years for bringing in young players and developing them into stars.

 

Among them is Pape Matar Sarr. Jack Pitt-Brooke disclosed that other teams contacted Spurs to congratulate them on the deal after Spurs signed him from Metz in 2021.

 

Among these players is another Destiny Udogie. The Italian defender from Udinese was acquired by Tottenham in the summer of 2022 for an estimated £15 million plus add-ons.

 

After spending the rest of the season on loan in Udine, Udogie joined Spurs during the 2023–24 preseason.

Destiny Udogie, a star for Tottenham, is “the future of the Italian national team.”

In that first season on Tottenham’s roster, Udogie wasn’t very well-known in this country, but he was garnering attention and recognition in Italy.

 

Udogie’s head coach, Gabriele Cioffi, called him “extraordinary” earlier, and Fabrizio Romano called him “the future of the Italian national team.”

 

Unsurprisingly, Udogie has been a revelation for Spurs this season, playing on the left side of defense and solidifying his starting spot under Ange Postecoglou.

 

 

Spurs icon Micky Hazard believes Udogie can become the greatest left-back in Spurs history because of how brilliantly he has performed.

 

Udogie was listed among the most valuable players in world football by the CIES Football Observatory earlier this year.

 

They valued the Spurs player at €78.3 million, or approximately £67 million, more than players like Gabriel Jesus and Jack Grealish.

 

By signing Udogie, Tottenham has certainly struck gold. And it will be interesting to watch how he develops at N17 because his Spurs deal expires in 2030.
