Red Sox lose out on top target as NL West club signs All-Star slugger The Boston Red Sox are allegedly not considering any other options.

Boston has been connected to a number of players in an attempt to add a right-handed slugger to the middle of the lineup.

One player that has appeared frequently is former All-Star Jorge Soler. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan and the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser, the 31-year-old inked a three-year contract with the San Francisco Giants, although he would have been a wonderful fit for Boston as a designated hitter and in the outfield.

“Outfielder Jorge Soler and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a three-year, $42 million contract, a source familiar with the deal tells ESPN,” Passan stated. “Soler received more money over a three-year period after choosing to forego a $13 million contract.

Susan Slusser was the first to sign the pact.” One of the best offensive players available for free agency, Soler produced probably his best season to date in 2023. During his time with the Miami Marlins, he hit 36 home runs, drove in 75 runs, and batted a.250/.341/.512 slash line, earning a spot on the All-Star team for the first time.

Justin Turner was the designated hitter for the Red Sox the previous season, but he recently signed a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Soler would have made a lot of sense because Boston has a void in the middle of the lineup, but the team now needs to start over from scratch. Boston needs to move quickly since its free agency options are about to run out.
