Fabrizio Romano disputes recent rumors that Tottenham is pursuing Antonio Nusa.

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Tottenham still has a lot of work to do in order to finalize a deal for Antonin Nusa, despite recent reports to the contrary.

Numerous sources have claimed that Nusa is getting closer to joining the Spurs within the past 24 hours.

The Lilywhites are certain that the Norway international will be a Tottenham player by the end of this week, according to a report from TEAMtalk on Wednesday morning.

Journalist Ben Jacobs also reported a similar story, stating on the Last Word on Spurs podcast last night that the trade is still very much moving forward and that the talks between Tottenham and Club Brugge are currently believed to be at a “advanced” stage.

Juan Nusa

Antonio Nusa is not yet close to joining the Spurs.

Romano, however, has now denied these allegations, stating that the agreement is still not official.

He then clarified that, even if a deal is finalized, Nusa himself would like to stay at Brugge on loan until the end of the season, supporting what we have heard from a number of other sources.

About Tottenham’s interest in the winger, Romano told GiveMeSport: “So the conversation is ongoing with Club Brugge at the moment and is not at the final stage.”

In this instance, the player and Club Brugge intend to finish the season together before allowing the player to go during the summer transfer window because the player also doesn’t want to leave in January.

Thus, Tottenham’s strategy would be to finalize the agreement immediately and allow Antonio Nusa to remain on loan at Brugge through the end of the current campaign.

Spurs Views

Tottenham wouldn’t be expected to walk away from the Nusa deal at this point, having apparently worked hard on it over the past few weeks. I’m still pretty sure the team can get the eighteen-year-old in before the deadline of February 1.
