A public Saudi bid for Miguel Almiron is made as Newcastle won’t rule out a sale

A public Saudi bid for Miguel Almiron is made as Newcastle won’t rule out a sale.

Craig Hope of The Mail provided an update on Miguel Almiron’s possible transfer to Saudi Arabia, stating that discussions have occurred with Al-Shaba regarding a suggested €20 million (£17 million) cost.

Remarkably, Hope also discloses that Newcastle has not released the “not for sale” statement that surfaced after strong interest was expressed in Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier, indicating that we are amenable to selling Almiron.

A transfer to Al-Shabab is now regarded as “unlikely” this month, as nothing has been agreed upon, but according to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, negotiations appear to be continuing in the days ahead.

Almiron left Atlanta of the Major League Soccer to join Newcastle in January 2019 for a then-club record fee of £21 million. Some believe he is worth more than the £17 million that has been estimated, but he will turn 30 next month, and any agreements made with Saudi partners will probably be closely examined because of PIF’s clout in the Kingdom.
