After receiving a red card against Nottingham Forest last night, Yves Bissouma of Tottenham Hotspur has been the subject of commentary from Sky Sports analyst Gary Neville.

Although playing at the City Ground at night is never easy, Spurs dominated much of the match yesterday. Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski’s goals sealed the victory, but Bissouma’s red card somewhat soured the atmosphere.

Yves Bissouma of Tottenham gets criticized by Gary Neville following his red card.

Thanks to Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham has been a pleasure to watch this season, but their discipline has been one area where they have truly struggled.

Thus far this term, Spurs have been issued 46 yellow cards and 4 red cards. It was Yves Bissouma’s second send-off of the season, and it was a very risky challenge last night.

The Mali international surged in, flashing his studs. He got Ryan Yates high on the knee and was rightfully sent off for the challenge.

Gary Neville expressed his dissatisfaction with Bissouma’s farewell remarks yesterday. The legend of Manchester United pleaded with Spurs to refrain from taking such reckless risks.

“We haven’t seen these kinds of challenges in years,” he stated on Sky Sports. These must end. It’s a clear red, suspended for three games, and I have none sympathy for it. They are no longer in existence.

Ten or fifteen years ago, they were banned! It appears that they have returned throughout the past month or two.

They will be costly to Tottenham, so they must stop. The absence of these players will cost Spurs points. You are unable to stop them from getting hurt. But if people keep taking these challenges in a hasty and careless manner, it turns into folly, even crazy.

He must be furious within. The Spurs fans are furious, I bet. I have to admit that I’m a little enraged because I haven’t watched a football team in a few years that has delighted me as much to know that I’m going to watch a fantastic game of football.

They’ve got to stop those little bits of ill-discipline. I accept that it’s commitment but they just seem to do it regularly. They have got to stop it.”

Tottenham’s Bissouma may not play again till February

Tottenham star Yves Bissouma’s red card last night was his second of the season, which means the Mali international will be suspended for four games.

The 27-year-old will now be unavailable for Spurs’ games against Everton, Brighton and Bournemouth in the Premier League and then Burnley in the FA Cup.

At that point, Bissouma will be off to represent Mali in the African Cup of Nations, and even if they get knocked out in the group stages, he will only be back at the end of January. That means there’s a big chance his next appearance for Tottenham will be in February.

Bissouma will be a big miss for Spurs, but he can only blame himself for this situation.
