Spurs are expected to complete their first major Premier League trade before the January transfer window even opens.

Tottenham Hotspur isn’t planning on spending much time in the transfer market this winter, and it’s been reported that they will bring in a new defender before the January transfer window even opens.

After earning just one point from their previous five Premier League games, Ange Postecoglou’s team defeated Newcastle United on Sunday to get back on track.

Due to injuries, Postecoglou has been forced to start full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Romero at center back for the north London club.

Spurs are reportedly close to signing Genoa center-back Radu Dragusin in order to avoid a situation like this in the future. This would be a clear signal to rivals Arsenal and the rest of the Premier League that Spurs intend to finish their business early.

AN AD LOADING

As per the Romanian publication Fanatik, the player is reportedly “very close” to joining Tottenham for a reported €30 million.

Since then, negotiations have been made public by Draguskin’s agent Florin Manea, who disclosed that there are “good signs”.

“I met them [Tottenham] in London a few days ago,” he stated (via Fanatik). They are also at the game that I am attending today, Genoa vs. Juventus. Let’s see, promising indications.

The people there want to move him. He did not sign Genoa’s extension. It’s not an extension, in my opinion.

Speaking about the amount Tottenham would have to pay to sign him, Manea continued, “We’re talking about €30 million or €32 million.” It looks like this to me.

We are here to talk, but we don’t know if Genoa will agree to let him go at this time. Nobody, in my opinion, will pay thirty million dollars to play at Genoa for six months.

He went on, “We are at ease, and he is focused on the game—a pride match—with Juventus. It’s a win-win situation; he’s being pursued, he’s considering the national team, and we’re considering his career.

“I received a call yesterday asking if he was going to the game and not playing. It’s a good time—I hope it’s zero—when we begin to develop once more and have players on competitive teams. Their progress in the European Championship also plays a big role in this.

“He represents Romanian football, which is a blow for the sport.” Like other players, I hope the major teams will be keeping an eye on us. There are numerous clubs present at the game; the conversation is not conclusive.

We value Radu’s ambition to play in the Premier League. His manager is excellent, and he will give him a great wage. It’s significantly more than what he makes at Genoa, though I can’t say how much.”

Furthermore, Draguskin recently declared, “It’s a place where I will evolve the best and develop the best,” confirming his desire to play in the Premier League.

“We have more important things to do right now than this, but I will decide when the time is right. Market share is not a motivator for me personally. That is the responsibility of the experts; I am unaffected by it.”

He added that Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool, has been likened to him in terms of style of play.

There are many rumours, but there is nothing written,” he said. “I never had a role model or idol. I saw that I am similar to Van Dijk, but I don’t have an idol”
