Levy targets a “dominant” center back after his agent discloses London discussions with Spurs

After his agent reported “almost weekly” talks with Spurs, it has been reported that Tottenham has “set their sights” on a “dominant” center-back for next month.

The center backs Spurs desired in January

Following Micky van de Ven’s injury and Cristian Romero’s recent suspension, Spurs are reportedly giving priority to signing a new left-sided center-back in January. This move comes after the team’s actual lack of depth at the position was revealed.

There have reportedly been behind-the-scenes Spurs recruitment meetings regarding who they should target, with support from new sporting director Johan Lange, who will help chairman Daniel Levy identify transfer targets (The Mail).

Spurs have reportedly targeted several defenders in the last few months alone, including Benfica’s ace Morato, Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, Everton’s Ben Godfrey, Genoa’s Radu Dragusin, Union Saint-Gilloise’s Koki Machida, Benfica’s Sebastian Caceres, Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio, and English prospect Jarrad Branthwaite.

Given that Dragusin has been playing well for Genoa this season, he is a particularly intriguing option. Dragusin might only cost £26 million, according to a November statement from the player’s agent Florin Manea.

In an interview with Fanatik from last month, Manea revealed that he has “almost weekly” talks about Dragusin with Spurs and has even met with interested parties in London.

Manea clarified, “The people from Genoa know (that he will soon leave).

I’ve been in London for a while, and I meet with significant teams nearly every week. We are drawing nearer. I had conversations with Tottenham, Arsenal, and Newcastle. I’ve had conversations and messages with them as well. Some groups make inquiries.

“I want to state unequivocally that Radu will play for a very strong club by next summer. ranked among the top ten worldwide. Although I am aware that Milan really likes him, he wants to play in the Premier League. I conversed with those in attendance.

Dragusin is what Tottenham “set their sights” on.

Tottenham has reportedly “set their sights” on Dragusin as one of their top January transfer targets for the center-back position, according to Football Transfers.

The 21-year-old’s dominant performances in Italy are rumored to have impressed Spurs’ scouting team to the point where they now genuinely have interest in him, as confirmed by his agent.

It’s not surprising that Dragusin has risen higher on Lange and Levy’s list of favored defensive additions considering his performance this season.

The Romanian international is an essential part of Alberto Gilardino’s starting eleven, according to WhoScored. Among Genoa’s most often chosen players are Dragusin and goalkeeper Morten Frendrup, who have each started 15 games this season and haven’t missed a single Serie A game.
