Rejecting Tottenham’s January approach for defender Jarrad Branthwaite is something that Everton is ready to do, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs are looking for a new center back after Micky van de Ven and Eric Dier went down with injuries recently.

Although Branthwaite, 21, is a top target for Spurs in January, the English defender is not up for grabs, according to the Toffees.

Branthwaite has participated in every Premier League game for Everton since missing the first two of the season, and Sean Dyche regards him as a vital member of the Goodison Park team.

He moved from Carlisle United to the Merseyside club in 2020, but it wasn’t until loan stints at Blackburn Rovers that he made his debut.

However, Branthwaite’s impressive play since joining Everton’s first team has led to connections with several Premier League teams, including Tottenham and Manchester United.

The player is reportedly aware of Spurs’ “concrete” interest, according to sources.

Despite strong interest in signing Branthwaite, Everton is sure they can keep him through January.

In October, he agreed to a four-year contract extension at Goodison Park, extending his stay with Everton until June 2027.

Branthwaite is essential to Everton’s survival effort, according to Dyche and his backroom staff, despite the team’s financial difficulties and ongoing takeover talks. Everton lost 10 points for breaking financial regulations.

Now that Football Insider has revealed that Tottenham and Manchester United are in a race for Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, it is anticipated that Tottenham will search elsewhere in January for defensive reinforcements.
