According to reports, Tottenham intends to make Juventus a sizable offer for Dusan Vlahovic, who is expected to be Harry Kane’s long-term replacement in north London. Vlahovic has been associated with a move to the Premier League for a long time; in the past, teams like Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest in signing him.
He was targeted by Tottenham earlier in the summer to replace Kane, but the deal fell through, and he chose to stay at Juventus. However, when the bidding reopens in January, the Italian behemoths are reportedly preparing for a different strategy, so things could change.
Ange Postecoglou has called Vlahovic the “ideal” signing, and TVPlay reports that a “mind-boggling” offer will be made for the player at the beginning of the new year. According to the report, Tottenham is getting ready to make a bid for the Serbian forward that would be accepted by Juventus for about £68.5 million.
In addition, Spurs would be trying to entice Vlahovic with a salary of about £12.8 million per season, or almost £250,000 every week. This would make him the highest paid member of the club by a significant margin, but it’s unclear if that would be sufficient to persuade him to sign with the north Londoners.
Vlahovic left Fiorentina for Juventus in January of last year, but he hasn’t quite been able to replicate his success there. In 75 games for the Old Lady, he has netted 28 goals in all, five of which have come in his first 12 games of the current campaign.
Though Spurs have yet to bring in a true goal scorer to replace Kane after his transfer to Bayern Munich, he would still be a wise addition to the team. On the last day of the summer transfer window, they acquired Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest, but the Welshman has only managed one Premier League goal since joining the team.
In order to strengthen their preparations for the end of the season, Postecoglou recently emphasized that Tottenham must complete their January tasks as soon as possible. He stated: “The January window, like for every club, is an important one.”
Regarding the January one, in my opinion, it is definitely more beneficial to complete your business during the earlier window. If you wait until the end of the month, you may miss the chance to acquire what you were hoping to achieve. Sometimes you have no control over that.”
